The sudden changes in graduates’ lives caused by the pandemic have shaken them out of a state of leisure and comfort, and on a profound quest for an alternative tomorrow. With strategic acumen, some moved from the city to the country, and discovered how to live and work in an independent manner; foraging, collecting, washing, dyeing and cooking textiles into a state of grace and beauty.

With admirable courage and artistic insight, these young designers changed proportions, modified waste, invented looms and made the most of this extraordinary moment in time; a moment in which one can grow, giving students space to restore their faith in the fibre of society. These creative textile makers have decided to turn the page and change our world for the better. They are truly the first generation of a new era.
